For VeoProject
|
At its most basic, project management is about making sure that the right people are doing the right thing, at the right time. VeoProject does exactly this, and a little more.
VeoProject fights project complexity with its streamlined approach emphasizing team communication and accountability. VeoProject is about making sure that people know they have things to do, and sharing information with the team.
Right from the get go, VeoProject’s simplicity is comforting. There are no drop-down menus and very few icons. You have four choices: projects, tasks, settings, and help.
When creating a new project, a simple wizard opens up and lets you choose what you would like in your project. We liked how it made project creation easy. There are no parameters or structure to configure in projects, just choose the parts you need from a list.
We especially liked the project wiki – where the whole team can contribute information. It’s a nice place where everything about a project can be kept.
VeoProject let you create tasks for your project, track issues as they arrive, and send messages to the whole team. The update request date is a nice touch. On tasks, messages and issues, you can tell VeoProject to request a status update from the assigned user by a specific date. This is especially useful for things that don’t necessarily have a due date.
Account administration is very simple. This is a refreshing change from the more complex systems. One can add a user from any point in the system. For example, one can create a task, and then realize the person for whom this task is intended is not configured in the system yet. No problem: just add the user right from the assignment drop-down.
This is a trademark of VeoProject: one is constantly surprised at how easy and smoothly things are done.
Here is another example: customizing the columns in the Task, Issues and Messages pages. Simply click on the Edit Columns and choose which fields should be shown. It’s that simple.
Reminders are another feature we liked. On top of specifying when to request a status update from the assigned resource, the task, issue or message creator can put a reminder for him or herself, so that if they haven’t heard from the resource in time, they can send them a message.
Overall, VeoProject is a perfect web collaboration system that will fit perfectly with teams that don’t want to be burdened with complex processes. If you are feeling overwhelmed by big project management systems, VeoProject will make you feel on top of things.
